Baldwin Central Under Extreme Storm Surge Warning; Evacuate Immediately If Ordered
Baldwin Central, including Daphne, Fairhope, and Foley, is under an Extreme Storm Surge Warning issued by NWS Mobile AL, urging immediate action and evacuation if ordered due to life-threatening storm surge, hurricane-force winds, flooding, and potential tornadoes.
A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Baldwin Central, including Daphne, Fairhope, and Foley, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL, effective immediately until 6:15 PM CDT today, October 8, 2026. This is an extreme and immediate threat. Residents are urged to complete all preparations urgently and be ready to act.
Life-threatening storm surge of 4-7 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation orders should be followed immediately to avoid being cut off from emergency services. Large areas of deep inundation are expected, including the immediate shore of Mobile Bay and Mobile River Delta, potentially rendering locations uninhabitable for an extended period. US 90 Causeway and other escape routes may be washed out or severely flooded.
Tropical Storm force winds, with gusts up to 70 mph, are expected from Friday afternoon until early Saturday morning. Plan for life-threatening wind equivalent to a Category 1 or 2 hurricane. Move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. Extensive damage to roofs, mobile homes, and trees is possible, leading to widespread power and communication outages.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with 3-6 inches of rain anticipated. Emergency plans should include potential major flooding. Heed all flood watches and warnings; evacuations and rescues are likely. Several tornadoes are also possible. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly.
