The U.S. economy experienced a decrease of 23,000 jobs in July, according to new labor data. This figure contrasted with economists' forecasts, which anticipated a modest increase in employment during the month. Revised statistics for May and June also showed a reduction in previously reported job gains. These revisions indicated 103,000 fewer jobs created across those two months than initial reports suggested. The unemployment rate saw a slight decline, moving from 4.2% to 4.1%. This shift occurred as a result of fewer individuals actively looking for work, according to an analysis by Heather Long, chief economist with Navy Federal Credit Union.
