DeSoto Partners on Thorntree Golf Club Development

The City of DeSoto signed a memorandum of understanding this week with SM Partners and Samyang Company to explore development of the 157-acre Thorntree Golf Club property.

The city acquired Thorntree Golf Club in July 2025. The MOU allows the city and its partners to begin formal negotiations on development, operation, and investment at the site. No final development plans have been approved.

The City Council authorized the city manager in March 2026 to negotiate and execute the agreement. City officials selected the two firms through a competitive bidding process, citing their financial capability, willingness to invest privately, and commitment to DeSoto's growth.
