A Wind Advisory is in effect for Cimarron County in Oklahoma, and Dallam and Hartley Counties in Texas until 8:00 PM CDT this evening, October 1. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Amarillo, TX, has issued this advisory due to anticipated north winds up to 40 mph with gusts reaching up to 50 mph.
These strong winds can make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Residents are advised to use extra caution when traveling. Unsecured outdoor objects may be blown around, and there is a possibility of tree limbs being blown down, which could lead to isolated power outages.
The NWS also noted that incoming storms from the north could potentially produce isolated gusts upwards of 60 mph. The advisory became effective at 2:40 PM CDT today, October 1.
