A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Dale County, including Ozark and Fort Rucker, until 7:15 PM UTC today, with dangerous winds, major flooding, and tornado threats requiring immediate action from residents.
DALE COUNTY, AL – A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Dale County, including Ozark and Fort Rucker, effective immediately until 7:15 PM UTC today, October 9, 2026. The National Weather Service in Tallahassee, FL, warns of severe conditions requiring immediate action from residents.
Significant impacts are expected. Winds are forecast to reach 15-25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, with a potential for winds between 58 to 73 mph. Residents should complete all efforts to protect life and property now and move to safe shelter before hazardous winds arrive. Expect damage to roofing, siding, and outbuildings, with unsecured objects becoming dangerous projectiles. Several large trees may be snapped or uprooted, leading to impassable roads and scattered power outages.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 2-4 inches of rain possible, leading to potential major flooding. Evacuations and rescues are likely. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and small streams may overflow, and floodwaters could enter numerous structures.
The situation is also favorable for several tornadoes, some potentially intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if issued. Tornadoes can cause significant damage, power loss, and communication failures.
