US Marine Band Free Concert at Dennis C. Moss Arts Center

Cutler Bay residents can hear "The President's Own" United States Marine Band perform a free concert at the Dennis C. Moss Cultural Arts Center on Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, at 8 p.m. The concert is part of the "Miami-Dade 250" commemoration.

The Marine Band's performance celebrates America's oldest continuously active professional musical organization and highlights Miami-Dade County's role in the nation's history. The "Miami-Dade 250" initiative honors the 250th anniversary of the United States through themes of resilience, diversity, migration, and civic pride.

Founded in 1798, the United States Marine Band has performed for U.S. presidents since John Adams. President Thomas Jefferson named the band "The President's Own" in 1801. Director Lt. Col. Ryan Nowlin curated the program, inspired by the spirit of John Philip Sousa, the band's 17th director. The program includes traditional repertoire, Sousa marches, contemporary pieces, vocal and instrumental solos, and a patriotic salute to the Armed Forces.

The musicians are active-duty Marines selected through rigorous auditions. Many are graduates of leading music schools, and over 60% hold advanced degrees. The band performs approximately 200 times annually at the White House in various ensembles.
