Davie Hosts Annual Mayors' Chess Challenge on October 3rd: Play with Officials!

Davie will host its annual Mayors’ Chess Challenge on Saturday, October 3, 2026, inviting residents of all ages and skill levels to participate in friendly matches against elected officials and community leaders. The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Pine Island Multipurpose Center, located at 3801 S. Pine Island Road.

The Town of Davie Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department organizes the challenge, which aims to promote critical thinking, concentration, and problem-solving skills through the game of chess. Instructors from Chess Art will be on hand to assist new players, ensuring everyone can join the fun.

The Mayors’ Chess Challenge began in South Florida 11 years ago. It now sees participation from 20 municipalities throughout the year. The event emphasizes good sportsmanship and offers a chance for participants to collect a special “passport” to log their attendance at various local chess events.
