Your donation also helps support parks Countywide. Find a bench dedication option that's perfect for your occasion. Application process Park bench dedication applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Plaques are installed on existing benches in most Miami-Dade parks, until they reach maximum capacity. Once you have selected a park, you will purchase a personalized plaque through your choice of supplier. Please note the plaque and text are subject to the approval of the Department. The plaques will be of consistent design, bronze material, not to exceed 3” x 10” measurement with thickness of 3/16” and will be installed on the backrest of an existing park bench to assure the bench is an inviting place for park guests to sit and enjoy. Benches that already have plaques are not eligible. We do not maintain a list or catalogue of available benches, but can make recommendations upon request. Despite being less than 3% of water on Earth, freshwater is essential for nearly all life. Learn its importance in our nearby ecosystems, such as the Everglades and our canal systems. Through games and discussion, participants will gain species identification skills of local fish, and begin to understand the importance of clean and accessible freshwater for all living things. Duration of program: Onsite Program 2 hours; Outreach program 1 hours Program Fee: $7 per participant or a flat rate of $150 for groups of 21 or less Maximum: 60 participants onsite programs; 40 participants Outreach programs RequirementsAt least one adult chaperone for every fifteen participants (1:15). There is no charge for teachers or the required number of chaperones. Adults over the required number of chaperones will be charged the program fee. Individuals with Special NeedsPark staff will make every effort to meet your group's program needs. Please inform the park staff of any special needs or considerations when making a reservation for your program. When possible, please give field trip site 36-hour notice of any special requirements so that field trip sites can make appropriate arrangements to meet your needs. Archaeology Outreach Archaeology Adventure This archaeological experience features modern and ancient artifacts. Learn about the science of archaeology and its importance in understanding human history. This program includes a PowerPoint presentation, the handling of real historical artifacts, and either a cookie excavation activity or garbology activity, where students will learn that one person’s trash is another’s artifact.
