The Town of Davie will offer residents a free shred-a-thon and prescription drug drop-off event on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. or until disposal trucks reach capacity at Pine Island Park, 3801 S. Pine Island Road.

Residents can bring up to five standard-sized boxes of documents for shredding, including pay stubs, canceled checks, financial statements and old tax filings. Binders, metal hanging folders and binder clips will not be accepted. Businesses and medical institutions are prohibited from using the shredding service.

The prescription drug drop-off accepts prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, vitamins and pet medications. Thermometers, sharps/syringes, bloody or infectious waste, hydrogen peroxide, aerosol cans, IV bags and inhalers will not be accepted. This service is also unavailable for businesses or healthcare facilities.

Proof of Davie residency is required, including a photo ID and a document showing an official address, such as a tax bill or utility bill. Attendees must remain in their vehicles. Documents for shredding should be placed in the trunk or cargo area for staff to collect. The Southwest 36th Street entrance must be used for event access.
