Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Hail and 70 MPH Winds for Crowley, El Paso, Pueblo Counties

Residents in southeastern El Paso, northwestern Crowley, and northeastern Pueblo Counties must seek immediate shelter due to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pueblo, CO. This warning is effective until 10:30 PM MDT tonight, September 20.

At 9:59 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 19 miles northeast of Pueblo Depot, moving southeast at 25 mph. This storm poses a significant threat of tennis ball-sized hail and 70 mph wind gusts, according to radar indications.

The NWS warns that people and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect extensive damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles from hail. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings, with considerable tree damage anticipated.

For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Remain alert for a possible tornado; tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If a tornado is spotted, immediately go into the basement or a small central room in a sturdy structure.
