CROCKETT, TX – Residents in and around Crockett are advised to seek shelter indoors due to a Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Angelo TX. This alert is effective immediately, October 1, 2026, at 12:09 AM CDT, and is set to expire at 1:00 AM CDT.
Doppler radar at 12:09 AM CDT indicated a strong thunderstorm near I-10 Near The Crockett-Pecos County Line, approximately 7 miles northeast of Sheffield, moving east at 35 mph. The primary hazard is wind gusts up to 50 mph. These winds could potentially knock down tree limbs and displace unsecured objects.
Affected areas include The Intersection Of I-10 And Highway 290 and I-10 Near The Crockett-Pecos County Line. This specifically covers Interstate 10 between Mile Markers 327 and 347. If you are outdoors in these areas, the NWS recommends considering seeking shelter inside a building for your safety during this period.
