Residents in the Northwest Plateau, Lake Havasu and Fort Mohave, Lake Mead (AZ and NV sides), Lake Mohave (AZ and NV sides), Hualapai Mountains, Northwest Deserts, San Bernardino County-Upper Colorado River Valley, Northeast Clark County, Sheep Range, Spring Mountains-Red Rock Canyon, and Southern Clark County are urged to secure loose outdoor objects immediately. A High Wind Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, NV, effective now until 8:00 PM PDT / MST this evening, October 11.
South winds of 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 60 to 70 mph are expected. These conditions are anticipated to cause significant impacts, including downed trees and power lines, leading to widespread power outages. Travel will be difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles, and dangerous boating conditions are expected on area lakes.
People are advised to take immediate action to secure any items that could be blown around or damaged by the wind.
