Drivers in Coastal Del Norte and Northern Coastal Humboldt counties are advised to slow down and use headlights due to a Dense Fog Advisory issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Eureka, CA. The advisory is effective immediately, October 8, 2026, at 7:21 PM PDT, and remains in effect until Friday, October 9, 2026, at 8:00 AM PDT.

Visibility is expected to be one-quarter mile or less in dense fog, particularly along the Highway 101 corridor within 1 mile of the shore. The NWS states that fog will become more dense throughout the night.

Low visibility can create hazardous driving conditions. The NWS recommends allowing extra time to reach your destination. If driving, use your headlights and maintain plenty of distance between your vehicle and others.
