The City of Crescent City is actively seeking qualified individuals to fill the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I/II positions. This role is crucial for maintaining the city's essential wastewater treatment facilities and ensuring compliance with environmental standards.

The position involves operating and maintaining wastewater treatment equipment and facilities. Responsibilities include monitoring and adjusting equipment, gauges, and controls to ensure proper operation, as well as performing various maintenance tasks such as cleaning, painting, and lubrication. Operators also assist in equipment repair and replacement and respond to emergency situations.

The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator series is divided into two levels. Operator I is an entry-level position where incumbents perform more routine and less complex tasks. This level is distinguished from Operator II by the performance of less complex duties and a lack of independent responsibility for plant operations. Operator II is the fully qualified level, where incumbents perform a full range of operation and maintenance duties and exercise independent judgment in plant operations.

Salaries for the positions are set as follows: Operator I earns between $3,712 and $4,512 per month, while Operator II receives a monthly salary ranging from $4,176 to $5,077. The role also requires operators to collect samples, perform routine laboratory tests, read and interpret meters and gauges, record data, and prepare reports.

A complete job description, detailing required knowledge, skills, and abilities, can be obtained by contacting City Hall. Interested candidates are encouraged to inquire about the specific qualifications and application process.
