Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Moffat County – Seek Shelter Now
Residents in south-central Moffat County are advised to seek immediate shelter as a Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Grand Junction. The warning is in effect until 7:00 PM MDT today, September 18.
At 6:14 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 28 miles northeast of Rangely, or 45 miles west of Craig, moving northeast at 30 mph. This storm poses a hazard of ping pong ball-sized hail, as indicated by radar.
The National Weather Service warns that people and animals outdoors could be injured, and damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles is expected. The thunderstorm is anticipated to remain over mainly rural areas within south-central Moffat County.
For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building immediately. The warning expires at 7:00 PM MDT.
