The Village of Warsaw will conduct its annual fire hydrant flushing next week, a routine maintenance task aimed at ensuring water quality and system readiness. Residents can expect the flushing to take place from Monday, May 6th, through Friday, May 10th. The work will occur daily between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:30 pm.
During the flushing process, residents in the affected areas may experience temporary disruptions to their water service. These can include low water pressure and potential discoloration of tap water due to sediment being stirred up in the pipes. Village officials advise that while the water may appear cloudy, it remains safe for consumption. However, it is recommended to run cold water taps for a few minutes if discoloration is observed before using water for drinking or cooking.
This proactive measure is essential for maintaining the integrity of Warsaw's water distribution system and ensuring that fire hydrants are fully operational in case of an emergency. The flushing helps to remove any accumulated sediment from the pipes and test the hydrants' functionality.
