Community Survey: Neighborhood Intersection Traffic & Pedestrian Upgrades

Community Survey: Neighborhood Intersection Traffic & Pedestrian Upgrades The Village of Larchmont completed its Safety Action Plan in June 2025, funded by the USDOT Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program. Safety improvements for pedestrians, bicyclists, and vehicles throughout the Village were identified as part of the Safety Action Plan for implementation and further grant funding. The Village is seeking feedback from residents on the following project as part of an application for the Westchester County Complete Streets grant program. Larchmont Neighborhood Intersection Pedestrian Upgrades This project includes upgrades for the intersections of Palmer Avenue/Parkway and Monroe Avenue/Lyons Place/Locust Avenue/Clark Court to provide safer pedestrian access, improved visibility, and reduced conflict points. These intersections today are difficult to maneuver for vehicles in part due to complex vehicle turns and obstructed sight lines, as well for as pedestrians who have limited crossing opportunities and low visibility to vehicles. Proposed improvements to tackle these issues include: Palmer Avenue/Parkway Improvements to and relocation of pedestrian crossing to provide a safer crosswalk Installation of ADA-compliant curb ramps for accessibility Creation of a T-intersection at the westernmost point possible to avoid conflict with West Avenue Removal of the Parkway right turn slip lane onto Palmer Avenue and concrete islands to reduce vehicle speeds Creation of a small pedestrian plaza for pedestrian access as part of the slip lane closure Improved lighting for the crosswalk relocation Monroe Avenue/Lyons Place/Locust Avenue/Clark Court Improvements to Monroe Avenue crossing including restriping and ADA-compliant curb ramps Installation of a new crosswalk crossing Clark Court, including ADA-compliant curb ramps Improved intersection lighting for nighttime pedestrian visibility Removal of the Locust Avenue right turn slip lane Creation of a small pedestrian plaza for pedestrian access as part of the slip lane closure Separation of the single, complex intersection to two intersections: Monroe Avenue/Clark Court and Locust Avenue/Lyons Place Installation of new stop signs between Locust Avenue and Monroe Avenue Maintenance of clear sight lines at the intersection, including between Monroe Avenue and Locust Avenue Extension of the curb line at the Locust Avenue/Lyons Place intersection to slow turning vehicles Please submit your feedback at www.larchmontny.gov/CompleteStreetsSurvey The Village of Larchmont continues to pursue additional grant funding sources, including for improvements along Larchmont Avenue, Chatsworth Avenue, Vanderburgh Avenue, Palmer Avenue, and residential streets throughout the Village. We appreciate your help to make Larchmont a safer place for all.

Redirecting a Package

USPS Package Intercept® service lets the sender (or authorized representative) stop delivery or redirect a package, letter, or flat that is not out for delivery or already delivered. Most domestic mailings with a tracking or extra services barcode are eligible for Package Intercept. Retail Senders: You can redirect a shipment back to your address or to a Post Office location as Hold For Pickup. You can only request a Package Intercept online with a USPS.com account. Commercial Senders: You can redirect a shipment back to your address, to a new delivery address, or to a Post Office location as Hold For Pickup via Business Customer Gateway. How It Works: 1. Verify that your shipment is eligible for Package Intercept. 2. If eligible, sign in to or create a USPS.com account to submit your request. 3. Use Retail Package Intercept to request that USPS redirect the shipment back to the original sender (you), hold it at the destination Post Office location, or hold it at a new Post Office location. 4. After submitting your request, you'll be provided an estimated total (intercept fee plus estimated Priority Mail postage, if applicable). USPS will then attempt to intercept and redirect the shipment. 5. If the shipment is intercepted, your credit card will be charged the $19.45 Package Intercept fee plus any applicable postage. If the actual postage is greater than estimated, any additional postage will be charged accordingly. 6. Your shipment will be redirected to the location you requested. Paying for Package Intercept: All intercepted items are redirected as Priority Mail. You must pay the applicable Priority Mail postage, except when the item was originally sent using Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage, or First-Class Mail. Customers will not be charged if the shipment was not intercepted. If successfully intercepted, the non-refundable Package Intercept fee is applied to each intercept request. Retail and commercial customers can also purchase additional services for the intercepted package, like Adult Signature Required, Adult Signature Restricted Delivery, Signature Confirmation, and insurance. Determining Eligibility: What Is Eligible: - Domestic USPS mail services with a USPS Tracking or extra services barcode - Packages whose total length and girth length is not larger than 130 inches What Is Not Eligible: - USPS Marketing Mail products and periodicals - Items addressed to a Commercial Mailing Receiving Agency - Items redirected to a PO Box - Nonmailable items, items with surface-only transportation markings, such as Label 127, Surface Mail Only, or items bearing other hazardous materials markings, such as Consumer Commodity ORM-D

" Members of the National Honor Society volunteered to help out at Sidewalk Warriors. They moved and unpacked boxes of food onto tables, organized tables, and served the community members that attended the event. It was a hot, steamy late afternoon but there was a lot of laughter, smiles, and gratefulness in the air. Click here or the above photo to see the full gallery. "
