Omaha's Creighton Secures Elite 2026 Basketball Recruits
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Creighton University men's basketball coach Greg McDermott bolstered the Bluejays' future by securing commitments from standout 2026 recruits, including Iowa's Jaden Koon, a 6-foot-6 swingman from Storm Lake, and Cottrell Harmon, a 6-foot-4 guard from Seattle. The duo's pledges, announced in recent weeks, headline Creighton's early class for the 2026-27 season amid an active offseason. This comes after Creighton's 2025-26 roster featured key returners like junior Isaac Traudt, who opted to stay for his senior year on April 8.
The Bluejays have been aggressive in the transfer portal under new assistant coach Alan Huss' influence, landing Providence center Oswin Erhunmwunse on April 8 and San Diego State guard BJ Davis shortly after. Erhunmwunse, a 6-10 sophomore, averaged 6.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.1 blocks last season, while Davis posted 10.8 points and 2.2 assists. High-ranked returnees Jackson McAndrew and Hudson Greer, Creighton's top signees ever per 247Sports, recommitted on April 12, alongside walk-on Shane Thomas.
Omaha's CHI Health Center, a hub for Big East excitement, will welcome this talent infusion following Creighton's recent March Madness success. Local fans point to Koon's regional ties — just across the Missouri River — as a boost for Nebraska recruiting. ESPN and 247Sports list Creighton atop early 2026 boards, with the class featuring multiple high-major prospects as conference play rages on.
