Residents in Putnam and White Counties are advised to seek immediate shelter as a Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued until 9:30 PM CDT tonight, September 21. The National Weather Service in Nashville, TN, issued the warning at 9:02 PM CDT.

At 9:02 PM CDT, radar indicated a severe thunderstorm located 8 miles north of Sparta, moving east at 20 mph. The primary hazards associated with this storm include 60 mph wind gusts and penny-size hail. Expected impacts include damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Affected locations include Cookeville, Sparta, Algood, Monterey, and Hamptons Crossroads. This warning also encompasses Interstate 40 between mile markers 288 and 303.
