More than 300 runners gathered at NHTI for the second event in the Capital Area Race Series. The evening included a Kids Fun Run and a barbecue hosted by NHTI and Northeast Delta Dental.
Northeast Delta Dental won the second "Battle of the Bridge" competition against NHTI, with their team posting faster average times than the Lynx. The organizations will compete again at a softball game on June 13.
"This race kicks off our community's spring season," said Tom Raffio, president and CEO of Northeast Delta Dental. "For many years, we've partnered to create this tradition that brings together runners of all ages, from the smallest sprinters in the Kids Fun Run to our local student-athletes and neighbors."
Russell Leino finished third among men. David Chorney placed second among men, with Rachel Jastrebsky second among women and Saleena Ramboer third.
Proceeds from the 5K benefit the Jennifer Kemp Memorial Scholarship Fund at NHTI, which supports students who excel academically and stay engaged in campus life and community service.
