Tropical Storm Watch Issued for Wilcox County: Prepare for Winds & Flooding

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Wilcox County, including Camden and Pine Hill, urging residents to prepare for tropical storm-force winds and moderate flooding beginning Friday evening.

Staff Writer
10/07/2026 · Wilcox County edition

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Wilcox County, including Camden and Pine Hill, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL, effective today, October 7, at 4:03 PM CDT. This means tropical storm-force winds are possible within the area within the next 48 hours.

Residents should prepare for hazardous winds of 40-50 mph with gusts up to 55 mph, expected from Friday evening until early Saturday morning. Efforts to protect property should be underway now to minimize limited wind damage to porches, awnings, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes. Expect downed tree limbs and potential power outages.

Moderate rainfall flooding is also a significant concern, with peak rainfall amounts of 3-6 inches and locally higher amounts possible. Emergency plans should include the potential for moderate flooding, which may prompt evacuations and rescues. Rivers, creeks, and small streams could overflow their banks. Heed any flood watches and warnings; failure to take action may result in serious injury or loss of life. Flood waters can enter structures, and driving conditions will become hazardous in low-lying areas.

The NWS currently does not expect tornadoes. For local information, contact Wilcox County EMA at 334-682-4911. For additional storm impacts and information, visit www.weather.gov/mob.
