**Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued September 18 at 4:50PM EDT until September 18 at 5:00PM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC**

At 450 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles southeast of Carthage, moving south at 35 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include... Sanford, Southern Pines, Carthage, Pinehurst, Aberdeen, Whispering Pines, Broadway, Foxfire, Taylortown, and Vass.

This includes US 1 near Mile Marker 69.

Straight line winds can blow down trees, power lines, and damage mobile homes and other buildings. Seek shelter in a sturdy structure until the storm has passed. Stay away from windows as flying debris generated by damaging winds can be deadly.
