K-9 Ellzey tracks down Cedar Key man accused of felony battery

A Cedar Key man was arrested Sunday after fleeing from police investigating a felony battery charge. Deputy K-9 Ellzey tracked Travis Rains and located him hiding near the scene within minutes.

Cedar Key Police officers responded to the battery report on June 15 and suspected Rains carried knives and a hatchet when he ran. Officers called for backup from the Levy County Sheriff's Office. Deputies Kyle Shultz and Andrew Heckle arrived, followed by K-9 Deputy Dakota Dowling and Ellzey.

Cedar Key Police arrested Rains and transported him to the Levy County Detention Center. He faces charges related to the felony battery.
