Drivers Urged to Exercise Caution Amidst Morning Fog

A Special Weather Statement has been issued for multiple counties in Indiana and Michigan due to potential morning fog, urging drivers to increase following distance, slow down, and use low beam headlights until 7:00 AM EDT today.

Drivers in Elkhart, Lagrange, Steuben, Noble, Marshall, Fulton, White, Eastern St. Joseph, Northern Kosciusko, Southern Kosciusko, Cass, and St. Joseph counties in Indiana, and Branch and Hillsdale counties in Michigan, are advised to exercise caution this morning due to potential fog and locally dense fog.

A Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service Northern Indiana at 4:49 AM EDT, effective until 7:00 AM EDT today, September 28, 2026, indicates fluctuating visibility. While observations have been varying, the potential for shallow or transient fog, and possibly denser and expanding fog, exists until around sunrise.

The National Weather Service recommends that upon encountering fog, motorists should increase following distance, slow down, and use low beam headlights. These precautions are crucial to ensure safety during reduced visibility conditions.
