Drivers in Jeff Davis, Bacon, Appling, Wayne, and Inland Glynn counties are advised to exercise extreme caution this morning due to areas of dense fog. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Jacksonville, FL, issued a Special Weather Statement at 6:41 AM EDT, effective until 9:30 AM EDT today, October 2, 2026.

Locally dense fog has developed, primarily north of Waycross, reducing visibility to one-half mile or less in some areas. The NWS warns that visibility can change rapidly over short distances.

Motorists should slow down and maintain extra distance between their vehicle and others. Be prepared for sudden stops. Conditions are expected to improve by mid-morning.
