The advisory is effective immediately, from 1:45 AM EDT, and will remain in effect until 10:00 AM EDT this morning, October 2.
Visibility is reported to be one quarter mile or less in the affected areas. In South Carolina, affected counties include Marlboro, Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Marion, Williamsburg, Coastal Horry, Inland Georgetown, Coastal Georgetown, Central Horry, and Northern Horry.
The NWS warns that low visibility could create hazardous driving conditions. Residents traveling this morning should exercise extreme caution. Remember to use your vehicle's headlights, not just daytime running lights, and ensure ample space between your vehicle and others.
