Delicate Balance Nature Lecture Series Join us for September’s nature lecture held at Big Shoals State Park! Doug Maple, environmental specialist with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection will be speaking on the delicate balance of nature and its importance. Learn about the environment in Florida! This event will be held at the pavilion on Saturday, September 14th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. We hope to see you there!

"Experiences & Amenities Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park provides a variety of activities for all visitors. Availability The park is open 8 a.m. until sundown, 365 days a year. Paddling Adventures The Suwannee River is a wonderful place for a paddling adventure. Explore the black water river and see what Florida looked like before the hustle and bustle of modern times. Bring your own canoe or kayak and launch from our boat ramp. A fee of $5 per vessel is required. Canoe and kayak rentals are available through the park's concessionaire. Hiking and Wildlife Enjoy the beauty of north Florida while hiking or biking along our nature trails. Keep an eye out for gopher tortoises, deer, wild turkey and a variety of birds. Museum and Gift Shop The museum and gift shop are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week, excluding Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. The gift shop offers a variety of souvenirs and treats. The museum showcases the life and music of Stephen Foster, as well as the folk culture of north Florida. Events and Festivals Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park is home to a variety of events and festivals throughout the year. These events celebrate the music, art and culture of Florida. Visit our events page for more information. Camping The park has a full-facility campground with water, electric, and sewer hookups. Primitive camping is also available. Fees Park entry is $5 per vehicle. Camping fees vary depending on the type of site. Other Amenities The park also has a playground, picnic area, and restrooms."
