Residents in the Lower Columbia Basin of Washington and the Foothills of the Blue Mountains of Washington should secure outdoor objects and use caution while driving, as a Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Pendleton. The advisory is effective from 11 AM PDT Friday, September 25, until 11 PM PDT Friday, September 25.

Southwest winds are expected to reach 20 to 35 mph, with gusts potentially as high as 40 to 55 mph. The NWS states that the strongest winds are anticipated in the afternoon and early evening hours on Friday. These conditions could make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles, and may lead to falling tree limbs and isolated power outages.

Patchy blowing dust could also reduce visibility for drivers. The NWS advises travelers to be ready for sudden drops in visibility if encountering blowing dust. Extra caution is urged for all outdoor activities and travel during the advisory period.
