Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Colquitt County: Act Now
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Colquitt County, including Moultrie, urging residents to complete preparations for hazardous winds, major flooding, and potential tornadoes by 6:15 AM EDT today.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Colquitt County, including Moultrie, effective immediately and expiring at 6:15 AM EDT today, October 10. The National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL issued the warning at 2:07 AM EDT.
Residents should complete all preparations before hazardous winds arrive. Winds of 10-20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph are expected, with a potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Limited damage to property and trees is possible, along with scattered power outages. Plan for hazardous wind of equivalent tropical storm force.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with an additional 1 inch of rainfall expected. Emergency plans should include the potential for major flooding, as evacuations and rescues are likely. Heed any flood watches and warnings; failure to take action could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and tributaries may overflow, and floodwaters could enter structures. Driving conditions will become dangerous.
The situation is favorable for several tornadoes, some potentially intense with larger damage paths. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if one is issued. Significant impacts are possible, including extensive damage and power loss.
