Residents in parts of El Paso and Pueblo Counties, including the Colorado Springs vicinity and areas below 6300 feet in Pueblo County, should seek shelter immediately due to a strong thunderstorm. The National Weather Service in Pueblo, CO, issued a Special Weather Statement at 7:59 PM MDT, effective until 8:30 PM MDT tonight, October 11.

Doppler radar detected a strong thunderstorm near Pinon, approximately 16 miles north of Pueblo Airport, moving northeast at 50 mph. This storm is capable of producing wind gusts up to 50 mph.

These gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and displace unsecured objects. Locations expected to be impacted include Northeastern Pueblo, Pueblo Airport, Fountain, Boone, Hanover, Avondale, Pueblo Depot, Pinon, and Pueblo West.

If you are outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a sturdy building until the storm passes.
