Patchy Fog Expected This Morning Across Southeast GA and SC Lowcountry

Patchy fog is developing across southeastern Georgia and the South Carolina Lowcountry this morning, potentially reducing visibility; drivers should slow down and allow extra following distance until the statement expires at 8:15 AM EDT.

Drivers in southeastern Georgia and the South Carolina Lowcountry should exercise caution this morning as patchy areas of fog are developing and expected to expand. The National Weather Service (NWS) Charleston SC issued a Special Weather Statement at 3:29 AM EDT, warning that the fog may become locally dense, significantly reducing visibility on roadways.

The affected areas include Jenkins, Screven, Candler, Bulloch, Effingham, Tattnall, Evans, Long, Inland Bryan, Coastal Bryan, Inland Chatham, Coastal Chatham, Inland Liberty, Coastal Liberty, Inland McIntosh, Coastal McIntosh counties in Georgia. In South Carolina, affected areas include Allendale, Hampton, Inland Colleton, Dorchester, Inland Berkeley, Inland Jasper, Beaufort, Coastal Colleton, Charleston, Coastal Jasper, and Tidal Berkeley.

This statement is effective immediately and expires at 8:15 AM EDT today, September 30, 2026. A Dense Fog Advisory may be issued for portions of the forecast area if conditions worsen.

The NWS advises motorists to slow down and leave extra distance ahead of you in case a sudden stop is needed.
