COCOA, FL – The City of Cocoa and the Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) received a $57.5 million federal grant on October 6 to fund the planned Cocoa Multimodal Station. The grant, awarded by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), positions Cocoa as the sole recipient of this specific federal station project award nationwide.

The investment is projected to generate $350 million in economic activity and create approximately 3,500 jobs in Cocoa. The new station will integrate passenger rail with existing transportation, including aviation, highways, the Kennedy Space Center and spaceport, and Port Canaveral.

FRA Administrator David Armstrong Fink, U.S. Rep. Mike Haridopolos (FL-8th District), Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jared W. Perdue, P.E., Brightline Florida CEO Patrick Goddard, and Cocoa Mayor Michael C. Blake attended the grant presentation. The city thanked the FRA, Congressman Haridopolos, the Space Coast TPO, Brevard County, Brightline, and project partners for their contributions. The station is expected to enhance regional travel options and economic opportunities.
