Wind Advisory Issued for Central Georgia, Gusts Up to 40 MPH Expected
A Wind Advisory has been issued for central Georgia, effective from midnight tonight until Saturday at 11:00 PM EDT, with gusts up to 40 mph expected; secure outdoor objects and use caution while driving.
A Wind Advisory has been issued for numerous central Georgia counties by the National Weather Service (NWS) Peachtree City GA. Residents in affected areas should secure outdoor objects and exercise caution, particularly when driving high-profile vehicles.
The advisory is in effect from midnight tonight, October 9, 2026, until 11:00 PM EDT on Saturday, October 10, 2026. East winds are expected to reach 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph.
Counties impacted include Oglethorpe, Wilkes, Morgan, Greene, Taliaferro, Butts, Jasper, Putnam, Hancock, Warren, Lamar, Monroe, Jones, Baldwin, Washington, Glascock, Jefferson, Crawford, Bibb, Twiggs, Wilkinson, Johnson, Peach, Houston, Bleckley, Laurens, Dooly, Crisp, Pulaski, Wilcox, and Dodge. These areas span central, east central, north central, northeast, and west central Georgia.
The NWS warns that gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. There is a potential for tree limbs to be blown down, which may lead to scattered power outages. Winds of this strength can make driving challenging, especially for larger vehicles.
The NWS advises to use extra caution while driving and to secure any outdoor items that could be impacted by strong winds.
