Strong Thunderstorm Warning: Seek Immediate Shelter in Bleckley, Laurens, Dodge

Residents in Bleckley, Laurens, and Dodge counties should seek immediate shelter due to a strong thunderstorm. The National Weather Service Peachtree City GA has issued a Special Weather Statement, effective immediately and expiring at 5:00 PM EDT today, September 20.

At 4:27 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located over Dudley, approximately 10 miles west of Dublin, moving southwest at 10 mph. Radar indicates hazards include winds up to 40 mph, pea-sized hail, and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning. Minor damage to tree limbs and the blowing around of light, unsecured objects are expected.

Affected locations include Cochran, Chester, Dexter, Dudley, Montrose, Dubois, Gresston, Plainfield, Empire, Yonkers, Roddy, Rowland, Harlow, Goldsboro, and Rebie.
