A Wind Advisory is in effect until 11 PM MST for several regions, with gusts up to 55 mph expected, potentially causing difficult driving conditions and power outages.
A Wind Advisory is in effect for several areas, urging residents to exercise caution due to strong winds. The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued the advisory, which began today, October 11, at 9:11 AM MST and will continue until 11:00 PM MST this evening.
Affected areas include the Upper San Pedro River Valley (Sierra Vista/Benson), Eastern Cochise County below 5000 feet (Douglas/Willcox), Upper Gila River and Aravaipa Valleys (Clifton/Safford), White Mountains of Graham and Greenlee Counties (Hannagan Meadow), Galiuro and Pinaleno Mountains (Mount Graham), Chiricahua Mountains (Chiricahua National Monument), and Dragoon/Mule/Huachuca and Santa Rita Mountains (Bisbee/Canelo Hills/Madera Canyon).
Expect south to southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 45 to 55 mph. The strongest gusts are anticipated near showers and thunderstorms. These conditions could make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Unsecured objects may be blown around, tree limbs could fall, and isolated power outages are possible. Residents are advised to use extra caution while traveling and to secure any outdoor items that could be affected by strong winds.
