A Special Weather Statement has been issued for Eastern Hamilton, Western Hamilton, Northern Columbia, Echols, and Clinch counties until 8:00 PM EDT tonight. The National Weather Service in Jacksonville, FL, advises residents that if outdoors, they should consider seeking shelter inside a building.

At 7:36 PM EDT, Doppler radar detected gusty showers capable of producing a landspout near Belmont, approximately 9 miles east of Jasper. This weather system is moving north at 20 mph. Hazards include landspouts and wind gusts around 40 mph.

The potential impacts include minor damage to outdoor objects. Gusty winds could also knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations specifically impacted by this statement include Jasper and Belmont.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect for northern Florida and southeastern Georgia until 9:00 PM EDT.
