Clewiston residents should prepare for nighttime construction on US 27 as milling and paving operations are set to begin Sunday night, September 13, 2026. The work will occur along US 27 between Stitt Ranch Road and Berner Road.
The project's progression toward the Berner Road intersection will necessitate cutting the traffic signal loops on the eastbound side. This action will place the Berner Road traffic signal into recall mode, meaning it will cycle through all directions regardless of traffic demand.
The City of Clewiston is working with the contractor to establish a timeline for how long the traffic signal will remain in recall mode. Officials anticipate it could take one to two weeks for paving to reach the Berner Road intersection. The city is also coordinating with the contractor to ensure the traffic loops are replaced as quickly as possible after paving is completed in that specific area.
Motorists traveling through the construction zone are advised to exercise caution and allow for extra travel time. The City of Clewiston expressed its appreciation for the community's patience and understanding during this necessary infrastructure work.
Additional updates regarding the construction schedule will be provided as they become confirmed.
