Clewiston Cancels Advisory Board Meetings
Clewiston canceled the Golf Course Advisory Board and the Parks and Recreation and Leisure Services Advisory Board meetings scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026. Rescheduled dates will be announced later.

Two Clewiston advisory board meetings scheduled for Thursday, September 17, 2026, have been cancelled. The city has apologized for the inconvenience and will provide updates on rescheduled dates through official channels.

William E. Dyal, 76, Clewiston Insurance Agent, Dies
William "Bill" E. Dyal, a longtime Clewiston resident and former insurance agent, died May 17, 2024. He was 76. He served in the U.S. Army and worked in Civil Service before returning to Clewiston, where he spent many years as an insurance agent. He is survived by his wife, Linda Dyal, two sons, a brother, grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Public Service Announcement • Chipley, FL The City of Chipley Public Works Department will be closing the intersection of Church Avenue & 5th Street on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. for water line repairs. The following roads will be closed: Church Avenue from 4th Street to Hwy 77 5th Street from North Railroad Avenue to Watts Avenue. We will update when the road is open. Phase 1 of the Lake Avenue Streetscape Improvement Project will enhance sidewalks, crosswalks, parking, drainage, and roadway infrastructure to create a safer and more welcoming downtown for residents and visitors. What's Included? New and improved sidewalks and ADA-accessible pedestrian connections Crosswalk enhancements for improved pedestrian safety Additional and upgraded on-street parking Roadway, curb, and sidewalk reconstruction Stormwater and shoreline improvements near Lake David Preservation of historic brick roadway elements where possible Traffic Impacts Construction will require a temporary closure of a portion of North Lake Avenue near East Magnolia Street. Clearly marked detours will be in place, and access to homes, businesses, and public facilities will be maintained throughout construction. Lake David Amenities Remain Open The Lake David Center, Splash Pad, Boat Ramp, and other park amenities will remain open and accessible throughout construction. Please use caution when traveling near active construction areas and follow posted signage for your safety. Project Maps & Detours Please review the maps below for construction areas, detour routes, and traffic control information to help plan your visit during construction. Lake Avenue Phase 1 Traffic Control Plan – Page 1 Lake Avenue Phase 1 Traffic Control Plan – Page 2 The MOT plans identify the work area, road closure locations, detour routes, and advance warning signage that will be in place during construction.
