Private Prison Companies Report Increased Revenue Amid Rising Immigration Detentions

Private prison companies have reported substantial revenues, including over $1.4 billion from operations. This financial reporting occurs as immigration detention numbers increase across the United States. One company also sold four facilities to the Department of Homeland Security for $1.6 billion.

Website Sign In Home Departments Community Development Housing Administration First-Time Homebuyer Purchase Assistance Program First-Time Homebuyer Purchase Assistance Program Eligible Applicants  will be invited to apply online starting  Monday, November 2, 2026 at 10 A.M.  Overview The First-Time Homebuyer Purchase Assistance Program (FTHB) provides down payment and closing cost assistance to income-eligible first-time homebuyers purchasing a home within the City of Tamarac.      Who is a first-time homebuyer? Applicants who: Do not currently own a home or did not own a home (house, condo, townhouse, etc.) in the last three (3) years. A single parent who has only owned a home with a former spouse while married (displaced due to divorce within the last three years. Considered on a case-by-case). An individual who is a displaced homemaker and has only owned with a spouse. An individual who has only owned a principal residence not permanently affixed to a permanent foundation in accordance with applicable program regulations      Additional program information    FTHB applications are processed on a first-come, first-ready, first-complete basis: ✅ First-come, First-ready - Applicants who are pre-approved by a lender and under contract to purchase a property in the city and who have completed the following program requirements: 8-hr Homebuying Counseling class from a HUD-approved Housing Counseling Agency A one-on-one financial counseling from the City’s HUD-approved Housing Counseling agenciesOasis of HopeClick on: Click Here to Register Housing Foundation Of AmericaClick on: Contact Us > Schedule Now > Pre-Purchase Home Buyer Counseling A completed Loan Application A 1008-Uniform Underwriting and Submittal Summary First-complete –A due diligence review of the entire file by city staff to verify and confirm FTHB eligibility. ✅ City Staff will coordinate with the closing agent. ✅ The FTHB applicant is the primary point of contact throughout the city's FTHB process and must provide reliable contact method(s) in the application. FTHB applicant must: Obtain a first mortgage for the maximum amount you qualify for, with a fixed interest rate and no pre-payment penalty. The maximum purchase price allowed is $568,577. Not have defaulted on a mortgage within the last seven (7) years. Contribute a minimum of 3% (mortgage industry standards) of the contract price towards closing. Application processing will continue until funds have been exhausted or at the end of the program year, whichever comes first. Note: Unfunded applicants are removed from the system at the end of each program year. Columbus Day Holiday Will Not Impact Waste Collection in Unincorporated Palm Beach County

Garbage, recyclables, yard waste and bulk waste collection will not be impacted for residents and businesses in unincorporated Palm Beach County on Monday, Oct. 12, in observance of the Columbus Day holiday. Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County (SWA) disposal facilities will be open and haulers in unincorporated Palm Beach County will run their regular routes. Residents should place all garbage, recyclables and yard waste curbside by 6 a.m. Solid Waste Authority administrative offices will also be open for normal business, and customer service team members will be available to assist residents with any garbage or recycling collection questions or concerns. Residents in unincorporated Palm Beach County can always see their collection schedule, set reminders, and sign up for collection information by visiting the “Pickup Schedule” page on the SWA’s website. Residents living in one of Palm Beach County’s 39 municipalities should contact their village, town or city directly for holiday collection information. A courtesy list of municipal contacts can be found online.
