Residents in Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, and Etowah Counties should immediately secure all loose outdoor objects as a High Wind Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Birmingham, Alabama.

East winds are expected to reach 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. These conditions are anticipated from 1 AM Saturday, October 10th, until 1 AM CDT Sunday, October 11th.

The NWS warns that damaging winds could bring down trees and power lines, leading to widespread power outages. Travel is expected to be difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles.

This warning is effective immediately, October 9th, 2026, at 9:53 AM CDT. The alert is set to expire at 6:00 PM CDT on October 9th, 2026, but the high wind conditions will persist into the weekend.
