Heat Advisory Issued: Stay Hydrated and Cool Through Sunday Night
A Heat Advisory has been issued for parts of Mendocino and Lake counties, effective immediately until Sunday night, with temperatures up to 101 degrees and high potential for heat illnesses.
Residents in Southwestern Interior Mendocino, Southeastern Interior Mendocino, Western Lake, Southwestern Lake, and Eastern Lake counties are advised to take precautions as a Heat Advisory is now in effect. The National Weather Service (NWS) Eureka CA issued the advisory today, October 3, at 1:43 PM PDT, and it will remain active until 11:00 PM PDT on Sunday, October 4.
High temperatures are expected to reach up to 101 degrees Fahrenheit, with overnight lows remaining above 65 degrees Fahrenheit. This prolonged heat creates a moderate to localized high HeatRisk, increasing the potential for heat-related illnesses.
To protect yourself and your loved ones, the NWS recommends drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned rooms, and avoiding direct sun exposure. Additionally, residents are urged to check on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be vulnerable to heat.
