Tornado Warnings Replace Severe Thunderstorm Warning in Central NC

Multiple Tornado Warnings have replaced a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Durham, Franklin, Granville, Johnston, Vance, Wake, and Warren counties, with a Tornado Watch remaining in effect until 5 PM EDT.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning previously issued for Durham, Franklin, Granville, Johnston, Vance, Wake, and Warren counties has been replaced by multiple Tornado Warnings. Residents in these areas are urged to immediately heed all information contained within the active Tornado Warnings.

This alert was issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Raleigh, NC, on October 11 at 1:40 PM EDT. The initial Severe Thunderstorm Warning was valid until 1:45 PM EDT. Numerous individual storms currently remain under Tornado Warning.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect for central North Carolina until 5:00 PM EDT. Please stay informed through official channels and be prepared to take shelter if a Tornado Warning is issued for your specific location.
