IMEP™ Integrative Memory Enhancement Program

IMEP™ Integrative Memory Enhancement Program Created by Council on Aging, IMEP™ is a dynamic and innovative response to memory loss. A structured, research-based program, IMEP integrates the mind, body, and brain connections to boost cognitive reserve and minimize the progression of memory loss or dementia. IMEP employs specific cognitive and physical exercises designed for seniors, and utilizes healing modalities that support overall brain and body function. IMEP™ is offered in 2-hour, 3-hour, and 5-hour program formats in a relaxed and supportive classroom environment that encourages camaraderie. The 5-hour program includes lunch. A light-hearted atmosphere, authentic dialogue, and engaging social interaction are the hallmarks of every IMEP™ class. Each day’s class focuses on a different brain topic, for example flexible thinking, spatial orientation, communication, or reasoning. The day’s activities then support and stimulate that brain function. The program provides a dignified, supportive, and non-judgmental environment. If you or a loved are experiencing cognitive changes, early signs of dementia, or Alzheimer’s, reach out to us! Our caring team can help you or your loved one receive the help you need to meet the challenges you are facing. To learn more and for details on program options and costs, please contact COA’s Susan Miller at (904) 729-9535 or [email protected]. What health professionals say about IMEP™: “The IMEP program is a valuable resource for our MCI (mild cognitive impairment) and dementia community. Their approach to engaging individuals in physical and cognitive exercises in a social environment aligns well with what we know helps older individuals with memory loss,” explained Dr. Melanie Chandler, Ph.D., Division of Psychology, Mayo Clinic. “I hear many positive things about IMEP from my patients, not only that they find it helpful, but also that they find it to be ‘so much fun’ (as a recent patient of mine stated). I will continue to refer my patients to the IMEP program.” What our participants and caregivers say about IMEP™ “It’s a totally relaxed and non-threatening environment. It’s very comfortable – one of the most comfortable I’ve experienced. That’s just as important as the educational aspect – the experience of being in a supportive and caring environment.” “From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by the facilitators and the participants! The class agenda was introduced to Mom in such a way that would make her feel comfortable and in control of making a positive and educated choice and change in her life.” “The classes have greatly improved my husband’s overall ability to function. When he first arrived he wouldn’t engage with other participants. Now he has a positive outlook, joins in group discussions, raises his hand to share, and interacts socially with others in the class.” “I am so happy that my mom has the opportunity to be part of this exceptional program. Mom is excited, positive, and for the first time in ten years she wanted to go buy herself a new outfit to go to class!” IMEP™ Locations in St. Johns County: Anastasia Baptist Church 1650 A1A S St. Augustine, FL 32080 3-Hour IMEP Classes Tuesdays 9:00am – 12:00pm 2-Hour IMEP Classes Wednesdays 10:00am – 12:00pm Thursdays 10:00am – 12:00pm Fruit Cove Baptist Church 501 State Rd 13 Fruit Cove, FL 32259 5-Hour IMEP Classes Thursdays 9:00am – 2:00pm Ponte Vedra Memory Care Center 1048 A1A North Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082 3-Hour IMEP Classes Mondays 9:00am – 12:00pm 5-Hour IMEP Classes Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays, 9:00am – 2:00pm Dawson Chapel 225 Orange St., St. Augustine, FL 32084 2-Hour IMEP Classes Tuesdays 10:00am – 12:00pm Boost Your Memory Reserves at Home with IMEP™ at HOME!
