CHS Students Host Prom for Assisted Living Residents

Twenty Clarksville High School students hosted a prom for Providence Assisted Living residents on Tuesday, April 14, completing their year in the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy.
The students, from J.J. Thornton's small business operations class, transformed the assisted living facility's dining hall into a dance venue. They wore formal attire, presented residents with corsages and masquerade masks, and provided refreshments donated by Tim Douglass, a Russellville Chick-fil-A franchisee who sponsors the academy. Retired disc jockey Randy Hilton provided music, and the Chick-fil-A mascot made an appearance. Each resident received a miniature Chick-fil-A cow plush.
The prom served as the culminating project for the academy, a year-long curriculum focused on leadership, awareness, communication, teamwork, innovation, ownership and planning. Earlier this year, participants organized a book giveaway at Clarksville Primary School, where they distributed reading materials and inspirational cards to first graders alongside Pride the Panther and the Chick-fil-A mascot.
Participants included Jai Avila, Yarami Avila, Gerardo Castaneda, Marlen Castro, Trevor Dailey, Emely Delgado, Tha Dah Htoo, Tha Mya Khu, Teresa Lay, Diego Martinez, Samantha Montelongo, Avery Nichols, Lydia Nichols, Mitzy Perez, Peryn Perrin, Brian Ramirez, Alex Rodriguez, Jane Wah, Nay Chai Way and Katie West.
