Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Clarke County: Prepare for Dangerous Winds
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Clarke County, with dangerous winds and major flooding rain expected; residents should complete preparations and move to safe shelter immediately.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Clarke County, including Jackson, Thomasville, and Grove Hill, effective immediately by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL. Residents should complete all remaining preparations for significant wind damage as soon as possible.
Dangerous winds are expected, with peak gusts up to 40 mph, and the potential for stronger winds between 58 to 73 mph. Potential impacts include damage to roofing, siding, and outbuildings, as well as several snapped or uprooted trees. Scattered power and communication outages are likely. Move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin.
The NWS forecasts around 1 inch of additional rainfall, with a potential for major flooding. Emergency plans should account for extensive flooding, which may prompt evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries could overflow, and many structures may experience flooding. Heed any flood watches and warnings, as failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life.
There is little to no storm surge flooding expected, but rough surf and rip currents are possible. Tornadoes are not anticipated, but gusty winds may accompany showers and thunderstorms. This warning is in effect until October 10, 2026, at 6:00 AM UTC.
