An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for San Diego County's Inland Valleys until Thursday, October 5, at 8:00 PM PDT, with dangerously hot temperatures up to 103 degrees Fahrenheit expected, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses.
Residents in San Diego County's Inland Valleys are advised to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning is in effect. This warning, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego, began on Tuesday, October 3, at 6:05 PM PDT and is expected to continue until Thursday, October 5, at 8:00 PM PDT.
Dangerously hot conditions are anticipated, with high temperatures projected to reach the upper 90s to 103 degrees Fahrenheit. Nights will offer little relief, with low temperatures remaining in the lower to mid 70s.
The NWS warns that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during such extreme heat events. To stay safe, the public is instructed to drink plenty of fluids, remain in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.
Crucially, do not leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles. Interior car temperatures can quickly become lethal.
