Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Christian, Greene, Lawrence Counties Urged to Seek Shelter NOW

Residents in parts of Christian, Greene, and Lawrence Counties are advised to immediately seek shelter due to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Springfield MO.

The warning is in effect until 5:15 PM CDT today, September 20. At 4:56 PM CDT, radar indicated a severe thunderstorm located over Billings, approximately 7 miles west of Republic, moving east at 20 mph.

The NWS warns of hazards including 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail. This may result in hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include Republic, Marionville, Billings, and Chesapeake. This also includes Interstate 44 between mile markers 55 and 56, and between mile markers 59 and 66.

For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building immediately. The warning expires promptly at 5:15 PM CDT.
