Drivers in Central and North Central Montana are advised to exercise caution this morning due to developing fog, according to a Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Great Falls MT.

The statement, issued at 7:07 AM MDT today, October 12, 2026, warns of areas of fog reducing visibility to as low as 1 mile across the affected plains. This advisory is in effect until 9:00 AM MDT today.

The affected areas include Northern High Plains; Eastern Glacier, Western Toole, and Central Pondera; Eastern Toole and Liberty; Hill County; Northern Blaine County; Southern High Plains; Eastern Pondera and Eastern Teton; Western and Central Chouteau County; Cascade County below 5000ft; Judith Basin County and Judith Gap; and Fergus County below 4500ft.

Motorists should be prepared for sudden reductions in visibility and the potential for slippery conditions, particularly on bridges and overpasses. The NWS advises drivers to slow down, allow extra time to reach their destinations, and use low beam headlights when traveling through reduced visibility.
