Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Chilton: Prepare for Winds Up To 65 MPH

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Chilton County, effective immediately as of October 9 at 4:20 PM CDT by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL. Residents in Clanton and surrounding areas should prepare for hazardous wind conditions and significant rainfall.

Tropical Storm force winds, with peak gusts reaching 65 mph, are expected to begin early Saturday morning and continue through Saturday afternoon. The NWS advises completing all property protection efforts as soon as possible and moving to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. Potential impacts include damage to porches, carports, and sheds, broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 2-4 inches of rain expected, with localized higher amounts possible. This may lead to moderate rainfall flooding, potentially prompting evacuations and rescues. Rivers and creeks may overflow their banks, and some roads may become impassable. Heed all flood watches and warnings.
