Drivers in portions of east central Georgia and central South Carolina are advised to slow down, use headlights, and increase following distance due to a Dense Fog Advisory now in effect. The National Weather Service (NWS) Columbia SC issued the advisory today, October 2, at 5:15 AM EDT, and it remains in effect until 10:00 AM EDT.

Visibility is significantly reduced to one quarter mile or less in dense fog, making driving conditions hazardous. The advisory impacts Lincoln, McDuffie, Columbia, Richmond, Chesterfield, McCormick, Kershaw, Edgefield, Saluda, Lexington, Richland, Aiken, and Southern Lancaster counties.

Residents traveling this morning are urged to exercise extreme caution. Follow NWS Columbia SC's instructions: if driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
